Camp Ozark
Sam and Susan Torn, owners, have dedicated their lives to serving today's youth through the incomparable experience that is Camp Ozark. Sam first came to Camp Ozark in 1951 at the age of 3 with his family. He later spent five summers as a camper and six years as a counselor at Camp Ozark. A former baseball player and yell leader at Texas A&M, Sam's biggest asset is that he has experienced Camp Ozark from every angle -- camper, counselor, staff member, parent and owner -- and is able to translate these experiences into the development of an incomparable camp program. Susan, a registered nurse, outstanding tennis player and accomplished banjo player, oversees all food, medical and support aspects of the camp on a daily basis.

Sam and Susan have three children and nine grandchildren: Son Scott, his wife Secily and their four children; son Chris, his wife Ceci, and their five children; and daughter Angela.

Gene and Amy Sue Monk have been serving Camp Ozark in a wide variety of capacities for many years. Gene, who grew up in the surrounding area, began his career at Camp Ozark while still in High School as a dishwasher. Through the years Gene served as Jr. Counselor, Counselor and Top Staff. Following a two-year stint in the Peace Corp he returned to Camp Ozark as the Associate Director of Operations. This includes the management of our Arkansas office and all facilities and maintenance. Gene has also been instrumental in the long-range planning of Camp Ozark. Amy Sue, who met Gene while serving as a counselor, works with Susan Torn in the Dining Hall and oversees the day-to-day operation of all Food Services. Gene and Amy Sue have 3 children.
